I've just come across some more information about Llandrindod's spa heritage on the Powys Built Heritage site. I love the Town's history as a purpose built centre for healing. I particularly liked the image of Rock Park's Pump Room being so busy that the queue for waters stretched almost to the entrance of the Park (that's quite a way!) I was told anecdotally by a local historian that there were many water closets in the Park at one time (with all the spa water there would need to be) and that local women could earn a little bit extra as 'seat warmers' for the gentlewomen visitors! |
